Madhuri dixit is a well-known Indian actress best known for her roles in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Her career began as a performer in the late 1980s. Her fame was boosted by Tezaab, a film starring veteran actor Anil Kooor. Her next appearance was in Dil where she starred alongside Aamir. As a young teenager in Mumbai's middle class she started to dance. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, however most of her early movies did not succeed. Then she found her way to success and was one of the most prominent actresses within the Indian film industry. After her wedding, she took a break in her career before re-entering the film industry. Recently, she played a prominent performance in Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times in the Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of these. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is the fourth most prestigious civil award in India. In addition, she is known for her charitable works.
